What exactly has been promised us?
Seek and ye shall find
Ask and it will be given to you
Knock and the door shall be opened
Speak to the mountain and it shall move
We have been promised that we will be heard. This does not mean that you will receive all that you ask for or that you will even receive what you think you need. You receive what it is you actually need. Further, you may receive what is needed in a way you have never even imagined it.
I remember at one point when our 11 year old son was sick, asking for Divine help with finding doctors who would be helpful to him. When we were well into our hunt for the right doctors, our son told us that he did not like a couple of specific doctors he was seeing and in another case he said the doctor was okay but he was not helping him. One afternoon we had a loud disagreement over going to see one of these doctors. I eventually realized that the help I had asked for was coming through our own son via his sense of what was working. He did indeed know what was helping him and what wasn’t. I had not been listening. I had been so busy trying to help fix things that I had not even noticed that exactly what I needed was being delivered through the knowing of our own son. This changed our complete approach to the healing process.
You may ask, “Why don’t I just get to have this full relationship with God by virtue of living a good life? Why do I have to ask for help?” It is true that you already have a relationship with Divine Presence without your doing anything specific at all. It is just that it is a richer, fuller, more vibrant relationship if you are fully involved. That full involvement for me has meant inviting the Spirit of Oneness, the Living God into my life, time and time again. So the first step to healing is to ask for help for whatever is needed. State the imbalances you know are within you and begin with forgiveness. You might begin with the Healing Tutorial offered on my website or try the Six-Step Healing Protocol.
How do you ask for help?
Ask for help:
- knowing that you will always be heard
- that God is always for us and never against us
- that there is nothing you can do which will make you unworthy of the love of God
From John 3, “Beloved, I desire above all else that you may prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers”. I want to say this again. You do not receive the love of God by being a wonderful human being. God’s love for you is the constant here and you essentially cannot earn it because it is freely and fully given, and available all the time. There is nothing you can do that will set the love of All That Is beyond your reach. God loves you because you are. Simply that. You are, therefore you are loved.
You are a child of Divine Source, created in the image of God, a tiny spark of the Divine, if you will. You can’t do anything that will forever separate you from the love of All That Is. However, you can be distanced from the love of Divine Spirit by simply not being tuned into that Love and by not really embracing that there is real, practical help from the Divine for every aspect of your life. You can choose to have any kind of relationship you want with Divine Presence. It can be close, trusting, and mutually appreciative. Or you can have what I like to call a theoretical relationship with God, one you hold in abeyance in case you might need it someday when things are really bad. Or you can run your life as if God’s love for you is something you heard about at church, in temple, or in mosque. You just never quite got around to really knowing that Divine love for yourself. You may have never asked for Divine love to come into your life in ways you could experience it and know it fully.
What type of relationship do you want with your Divine Creator? All the help you need is fully available to you but for the asking, but for the believing, but for the embracing, but for the hearing. So go ahead, ask for God’s help where you really need it and watch your life change.
Put your trust in that which is really worthy of your trust. Put your trust in Divine Presence/God/The Oneness. Some of us have spent a lifetime putting our trust in being “somebody”, in “having prestige”, in “being respected”, in being “really good at what we do” or a myriad of other conditions. WE have spent a lifetime putting our trust in others or in our human self. Now put your trust in the Spirit of the Living God. That is all that is needed. Get yourself a partner for life, one that is always available, immensely powerful, and loves you unconditionally. Get into Right Relationship with God/The Oneness/All That Is. That is the message again and again, develop your relationship with Divine Presence – wholeness and health will be the result.
